Show Rejection Feedback on Approved Database Submissions

šŸ“‹ Summary

Allow users to view rejection feedback comments on database submissions, even if the submission is ultimately approved.

ā— Problem

When reviewing database submissions:

  • Reviewers can leave constructive feedback when voting to reject

  • If the submission is later approved by other voters, those rejection comments are not visible to the original submitter

  • Users only see feedback when a submission is fully rejected

This means useful feedback is lost, even when it could help improve future submissions.

šŸ’” Proposal

Make rejection feedback visible to submitters regardless of the final outcome:

  • Show anonymized rejection comments on approved submissions

  • Display feedback in a dedicated section (e.g., ā€œReviewer Feedbackā€)

  • Do not expose reviewer identities

šŸ“¦ Benefits

  • Helps users learn and improve future submissions

  • Preserves valuable reviewer feedback that would otherwise be lost

  • Encourages more thoughtful and constructive reviews

šŸ’” Notes

  • Feedback should remain anonymous to avoid friction

  • Could optionally distinguish between ā€œapproved with feedbackā€ vs ā€œfully approvedā€

  • Should not affect the voting or approval process

    Hi there!

Thanks so much for submitting this request and for taking the time to explain your use case — that context is always super helpful.

I’ve gone ahead and fleshed out the main idea using the info you provided, and I’m opening it up to the community for further discussion and feedback. Please let me know if this fleshed-out version doesn’t match your original intended request.

Feel free to let me know if you have any extra thoughts, examples, or edge cases you think might be relevant!

    Cheers,
    The LaunchBox team

Can this please be considered? I’d really like to know how I can improve my submissions but to date I’ve never gotten a complete Rejection so I never see the feedback. I have almost 3k submissions and many of them have 1 or 2 rejections but ultimately get approved by the majority. There’s likely something I’m doing to get a few moderators mad — maybe wrong region, or resolution, but I’ll never know what unless I can see the feedback.

    These are my stats:
    Total Submitted Changes

    106590

    Total Pending Changes

    0

    Total Approved Changes

    106556

    Total Rejected Changes

    34

Just 34 I have a rejection rate of 0.00031897926 or <1%? I don’t think so! I can’t even search for those rejections and even if I did I couldn’t read the comments. In addition, those rejections are agreed upon, it doesn’t show the individual disagreements such as for the listed picture.

Please go ahead and implement this. The amount of people passive-aggressively arguing over incorrect submissions through comments isn’t just immature, it also doesn’t help improve the quality of the database or the community. It ends up turning into a tug-of-war where whoever submits last wins, which isn’t ideal. I want to give credit where it’s due — those criticism comments pointing out mistakes have actually been helpful for learning the guidelines (or rules?) for the database.

I have over 1000 approved submissions. I feel constructive criticism and feedback is very important. For all I know, I've submitted 1000 images with the same problems that have gone unnoticed. Maybe it's the wrong resolution, maybe there's a typo, maybe the artwork is for a similar but different game — and if 4 people don't notice these problems and approve, the 1 rejection with valid concerns gets ignored. I feel this feature is necessary for database content to improve and mature.
