Use other metadata/media sources for all games from all storefronts at all times.

Currently launchbox will only download metadata/media from storefronts for games that have been imported from a storefront. There are plugins that will let you copy a steam link and download the metadata/media that way, however this is tedious and must be done per game.

Launchbox should allow us to match titles to storefronts and pull all metadata and media directly from said storefront.

    Hi there,

Thanks for the suggestion! To better understand your request and how we might support this in the future, could you please elaborate a bit on your use case?

    For example:

    • Are you primarily looking to pull metadata/media from storefronts like Steam, GOG, or Epic for games not originally imported from those platforms?

    • Are you managing a large library of games manually and want an easier way to match them to storefront entries in bulk?

    • Would your ideal workflow involve LaunchBox automatically checking all games against storefronts, or would you prefer a tool to manually link them in batches?

Any additional details about how you’re using LaunchBox and what would improve your experience would be really helpful. Looking forward to hearing more!

All the above I think. I am looking to import metadata from steam for games added that are not originally imported from steam. However, there is great high quality meta data out there from other store fronts, such as Sony, that would be nice to have.

I am managing a large library and currently when adding a lot of games at once the only solution is to use a third part plugin that requires the URL of the steam page to download metadata per game. It’s time consuming and tedious.

Yes the ideal workflow would be that launchbox automatically checks these games against the storefront, matches them, and automatically downloads the metadata plus any additional information such as tags, controller support, etc…

I feel this should be a baked in feature for LB as customization is a big selling point of the product. We all love big beautiful front ends that are easy to use.
