Track Game Progress Change Dates

šŸ“‹ Summary

Add the ability for LaunchBox to track the date and time when a game’s progress status changes (e.g., from Unplayed → In Progress → Beaten → Completed → Mastered). These timestamps could then be used to sort or filter playlists, view play history, and generate time-based stats.

šŸŽÆ Feature Overview

  • LaunchBox automatically logs a timestamp whenever a game’s Progress status changes.

  • New database fields could include:

    • Date Started (when set to In Progress)

    • Date Beaten

    • Date Completed

    • Date Mastered

  • Users could then:

    • Sort or filter playlists by these dates.

    • Create custom playlists (e.g., Games Beaten in 2025).

    • View progress timelines on a per-game or per-platform basis.

    • Generate historical stats like ā€œGames beaten per monthā€ or ā€œTotal completions this year.ā€

šŸ›  Example Use Cases

  • šŸ•¹ Beaten Playlist – A user creates a playlist of all Beaten games, sorted chronologically by when each game was completed, to revisit their past progress.

  • šŸ“… Progress Timeline – A ā€œRecently Masteredā€ view showing games in order of when the user earned 100% completion.

  • šŸ“ˆ Activity Stats – A dashboard that visualizes user activity over time (e.g., games started or finished each month).

  • 🧩 Cross-Platform Tracking – See which platforms or genres were most played during a specific time period.

šŸ“¦ Benefits

  • 🧠 Adds valuable historical context to the Game Progress system.

  • šŸ“… Enables richer analytics and personal achievements tracking.

  • šŸŽ® Encourages goal-setting and reflection on gaming habits.

  • šŸ”„ Integrates naturally with RetroAchievements, playtime tracking, and automation rules.

šŸ’” Notes

Future expansions could include a ā€œProgress Journalā€ view, showing a timeline of all play sessions and status updates, or the ability to export progress history for personal record keeping or social sharing.

Track Date of Progress Changes and Then Be Able to Sort By Them

Not sure if this is already available and I’m just not seeing it. But I was thinking it would be nice to know when a particular game was Paused, Beaten, Completed, Mastered, etc. and then to be able to sort a Playlist by those various dates. Thinking of having a Beaten Playlist, in the order that I beat the games, to go back and relieve former glory ;)
