Steam Trailers Unavailable Due to New Steam API Changes

Summary
Steam trailers are currently unavailable to download due to new changes on Steam’s side, separate from the Steam trailer issue addressed earlier in the 13.25 beta cycle.
Details
Earlier in 2025, Steam made changes to their trailer API which caused Steam trailers to fail in LaunchBox. That issue was addressed and fixed during the 13.25 beta cycle (around Beta 3).
However, since then, Steam has made additional sweeping changes, fully removing access to direct trailer video files and replacing them with streaming only formats (such as DASH, HLS, and microtrailers).
As a result:
LaunchBox no longer detects any downloadable Steam trailers
Steam Trailers may not appear as an available media type
Bulk imports may still show the option, but no trailers will be downloaded
This is not a regression caused by new LaunchBox code, but the result of further changes introduced by Steam after beta testing concluded.
Next Steps
Restoring Steam trailer support will require a more significant redesign of how LaunchBox retrieves and processes Steam trailers. This will be addressed in a future update rather than a hotfix.

With today’s release of LaunchBox for Windows 13.27, Steam trailer downloads have been restored with updated handling for Steam's newer streamed trailer delivery, along with better trailer selection, improved fallback handling, and broader MP4 compatibility across imports and media downloads
You can update to the latest version from within the app to receive this.

I’ve just tried this. LB tries to download the Steam Trailers, takes a very long time and in the end the trailer video file is not saved. So at least for me, it’s not working.
EDIT: I tried it again on a single game and now it seems to have worked. But still seems unreliable atm.
EDIT 2: yeah, definitely not working correctly. I deleted all my Steam Video files and am now in the process of trying to update the vidoes of all Steam games while JUST selecting Steam Trailers to download, and there are already multiple trailers that weren’t saved.
EDIT 3: OK, did some further testing. There seem to be 2 separate issues:
Some trailers just cannot be accessed for some reason. If I go to the Steam Page of the affected games, I can see that there is definitely a trailer there, but Launchbox won’t download it.
Sometimes, when a trailer is downloaded, there is no sound. If I had to take a gues, I’d say 1 in 20 Trailer videos downloaded had this issue. This can be “fixed” by deleting the faulty video file and redownloading it.

FFmpeg has a workaround for this if you have the URL for a steam trailer.
