Add support for CHDs created with ‘createdvd’ method in RAHasher

Some users have noticed that CHDs created using the createdvd method (often used for PSP and DVD-based games) aren’t currently detected by LaunchBox’s RetroAchievements (cheevo) scan.

At present, this is a limitation of the RAHasher tool, which LaunchBox relies on to validate and match ROMs. RAHasher does not yet support the newer CHD DVD format (createdvd), and only recognizes CHDs made with the createcd method.

🛠️ This isn’t something we can address directly in LaunchBox. However, if you’d like to see support for createdvd CHDs, we encourage you to request it over on the RAHasher GitHub:

Hi there, thanks for the report there.

You’re right that the cheevo scan doesn’t currently detect CHDs made with the “createdvd” method. The issue isn’t with PSP specifically—it’s that the RAHasher tool (which is what we use to verify the matching of a ROM) doesn’t yet support CHDs created with the newer CHD DVD format (“createdvd”). Only CHDs made with the “createcd” method are recognized right now.

To get support added, it might be worth reporting a feature request over on the RAHasher GitHub:

Once it’s supported there, cheevo scan should work correctly with “createdvd” CHDs too.

I’ll leave this open to the community just for visibility incase other are also included to request it there

Based on what we are seeing, the RAHasher program has no current support to hash CHD files made using the createdvd argument, nor does RetroArch currently support these kind of files for RetroAchievements (

    https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/issues/16145 )

While PPSSPP does seem to support these files, it’s unclear if PPSSPP itself has the ability to output the hash that could be used to cross reference to the RetroAchievement API, or whether the RetroAchievement API has these hashes listed.

I’m going to move this ticket to awaiting feedback, just in case there’s the possibility you or someone knows of a way to hash these kind of files to cross reference them with the RetroAchievement API dump of hashes.
