Omit Hidden Games in Big Box Screensaver
š Summary
Add an option in Big Boxās screensaver settings to exclude hidden games from appearing, similar to the existing ability to omit broken games.
ā Problem
Currently, the Big Box screensaver cycles through random games across the library, regardless of whether they are marked as hidden. This can surface content that users have intentionally hidden (e.g., duplicates, test ROMs, mature content, or broken entries).
š” Proposal
Add a toggle option in the Big Box screensaver settings:
āOmit Hidden Gamesā
When enabled, the screensaver will skip over any games flagged as hidden in the userās library.
Works alongside the existing toggle to omit broken games.
š§© Use Cases
Parents who have hidden mature-rated games donāt want them appearing in the screensaver rotation.
Users who hide duplicate ROMs or alternate versions want a cleaner, uncluttered screensaver experience.
People who hide placeholder entries or games awaiting metadata donāt want them mistakenly showcased.
š¦ Benefits
Ensures that the screensaver only highlights the games users want to be visible.
Creates a more curated and personalized experience.
Matches consistency with other āomit hiddenā options already available in Big Box views.
