Hidden Games Appear in Some Big Box Discovery Center Sections

Summary:

Hidden games in LaunchBox are still being shown in certain sections of the Big Box Discovery Center, even though they are correctly hidden elsewhere.

Details:

Sections like “Because you recently played [Game]” may display games that have been marked as hidden in LaunchBox. Other Discovery Center sections appear to respect the hidden status as expected.

Impact:

This can lead to cluttered or misleading recommendations, particularly for users who intentionally hide unwanted games.

    Hi Folks, just to let you know, with today’s release of LaunchBox 13.23, games marked as hidden will no longer appear in the game discovery center.

    Thanks for bearing with us while we got that fixed up.

    I have entire platforms hidden from BigBox using the “Hide in BigBox” option that are not exactly controller friendly such as home computers. Currently when you search for a game in BigBox those games in these hidden platforms show in the results. I would like to have an option to where they do not show when I’m using BigBox and I believe that is what this request is about.

    Hello, I usually play new games and give them a rating after 30 minutes as a first impression. If the rating is lower than 3 stars, I hide the game so it doesn’t appear in Big Box, helping to reduce the catalog without losing the possibility of revisiting the game in the future. I also use the "Broken game" option to hide PC games that can only be played with a keyboard from Big Box. It would be interesting to revisit the "Hide" and "Broken" features so that Big Box displays the catalog correctly. Thank you.

    Our apologies for the massively delayed follow-up on this. You’re absolutely right — this is a known issue with how hidden games are handled in Big Box. Unfortunately, hiding games isn’t applied universally across all sections and instead needs to be accounted for individually. It’s not an ideal setup, and we know there are places (like this one) where hidden games can slip through the cracks.

    We’re currently considering a broader rework of how hidden games function, and we’d love to hear more about your use cases — how and why you hide games in your library.
