Edit “Date Added” Field

Summary:

Allow users to edit the “Date Added” value for games directly within LaunchBox while the application is running.

Problem:

LaunchBox is not just a game launcher—it’s also a powerful tool for cataloging and organizing game collections. Many users rely on the “Date Added” field to track when games were purchased or added to their library 📅. Currently, this field can only be edited manually by modifying the data files while LaunchBox is closed, which isn’t ideal and introduces unnecessary friction for users.

Proposal:

Enable editing of the “Date Added” field through the standard game edit interface in LaunchBox. This small addition would make it easier for users to keep their collections accurate and meaningful without needing to dig through files or close the app 🛠️.

Benefits:

  • Makes LaunchBox more usable as a collection tracking tool, not just a launcher

  • Improves workflow for users managing large or regularly updated libraries

  • Removes the need for workarounds or manual XML editing

  • Keeps LaunchBox aligned with the needs of both casual and enthusiast collectors 🎮📚

    Thanks for the request here, I’ve gone ahead and fleshed it out. That said, before I release it to the community, I was curious if you see any value in tracking BOTH the date added "(to LaucnhBox), and some sort of date field to track your purchase?

    The date added is intended as the date it was added to your LaunchBox collection, whereas it sounds like you’re utilising this to track the purchase date. If we supported this officially, would this solve your use-case?

      A new section for Date purchased would work as well, I just use the date added field because it is currently there.
