📋 Summary
Expand LaunchBox’s sync capabilities beyond playtime, play count, and favorites to include metadata, playlists, and game settings across devices.
❗ Problem
Currently, only a few data points (playtime, play count, favorites) are synced between builds. For users running LaunchBox on multiple devices (e.g., desktop + handheld PC), this creates several challenges:
Playlists must be manually copied.
Metadata edits (titles, descriptions, region changes, etc.) aren’t carried over.
Game-specific settings or configurations have to be redone per device.
Media management can become inconsistent or fragmented.
This is both time-consuming and error-prone, breaking the seamless experience many users expect when maintaining multiple setups.
💡 Proposal
Introduce cloud sync that supports:
✅ Game metadata (custom edits, notes, fields)
✅ Playlists (custom and auto-populated)
✅ Game-specific settings/configurations
✅ Optionally, media files (images, videos, manuals)
Sync could work via:
Native LaunchBox cloud storage (if feasible), or
Integration with third-party services like OneDrive, Google Drive, or Dropbox, letting users choose their preferred provider.
🧩 Benefits
Provides a single source of truth for your library across devices.
Saves time by eliminating repetitive manual copying.
Keeps metadata, playlists, and settings consistent everywhere.
Huge quality-of-life improvement for users with multiple builds or handheld PCs.
