📋Summary

Add YouTube as an additional source for scraping and downloading video snaps directly into LaunchBox, allowing users to easily populate missing gameplay, trailer, or review videos for their games.

❗Problem

Currently, LaunchBox relies heavily on EmuMovies for video snaps. While EmuMovies has excellent coverage, it doesn’t always include videos for ROM hacks, fan games, or lesser-known titles. Users who want video snaps for these games must manually find, download, and add videos—making the process tedious and time-consuming.

💡Proposal

  • Integrate YouTube scraping directly into the LaunchBox media downloader

  • Allow users to search by game title and pull in videos tagged as gameplay, reviews, or trailers

  • Provide simple filters for users to prioritize official-looking gameplay or higher-quality uploads

  • Save downloaded videos into the standard LaunchBox media folders for seamless use in Big Box

    Add YouTube scrapper for vídeo snaps

    My another idea that I see In bitbucket is add a YouTube scrapper for video snaps (Gameplay, Review, Trailer etc). It would be great for people that download the vídeo snaps that Emumovies don’t have like Rom Hacks and Fangames. Plus add a feature to edit the vídeo to make it 40 seconds or 2 minutes (a Video editor like filmora would be great), and make them customizable adjusting the seconds of the vídeo (Example a Super Mario Bros gameplay vídeo that user will make 40 seconds of the 6-3 Level, other will make the 1-1 Level vídeo etc). Another idea is to merged 2 or more vídeos in one to make a Platform Category or Playlist Vídeo intro for BigBox. Example I will make a Playlist called Sonic Mega Drive Collection, The bigbox will automatically make the playlist vídeo intro using the vídeos that I scrapped for youtube
